What Do We Leave Behind?
This project is a long-term series focusing on the impact humans leave on the natural world they live in. It is a reflection of our place as a species inhabiting a planet that we do not respect and use every resource of until one day we will not be able to. It is also a celebration of nature and its adaptability to resist and regain its rights on the human impact.
La Vigilancia es un Trabajo de Equipo
Surveillance is a Team Effort
This project was part of a documentary photography class I took while doing my university exchange in Chile. I focused on the surveillance's dispositive that is present everywhere in the rich neighborhoods and the militias funded by the rich inhabitants of the latter. Chile is one of the countries in the world with the biggest inequalities, where the rich earn on average 27 times more than the working class. This gap results in desperate crimes from the poorest and surveillance and fear from the richest.
Event Photography
You can find below a small selection of Event Photography, made both with analog and digital cameras.
Analog by Night
This shoot is inspired by Wong Kar Wai movies, his cinematography but also his scenarios. I love the way that he expresses busy city life through his movies, the idea that one in the city is always surrounded by people but never really noticed by anyone. The idea that cities can be very lonely places where people cross each other but never meet. And the romantic idea that you could finally catch a glimpse at each other, and fall for one another.
South America: Visual Diary
During my studies, I had the opportunity to do a university exchange. I went to Chile for 6 months and tried to travel around South America as much as possible. I wanted to discover as many cultures and landscapes as possible and always went with a camera in my pocket.
This album features scenes from the invasion of the Brazilian congress in Brasília by exiting President Bolsonaro's supporters. The photo of the man praying was taken the day before in the city's cathedral. You can also see Rio de Janeiro and its beach micro-economy scenes. The next slides show the preparation of terremoto, a Chilean alcoholic drink served during the national day of Chile. Then, you can observe a pre-game celebration in Buenos Aires in the football stadium neighborhood's streets. The last two slides were taken in the mountains in Peru while hiking to the Machu Picchu.
Back to the Earth
A few years ago, my dad quit his office job and left the city to start running horse stables. My brother and I have always ridden horses; it has been part of our lives since we could walk. It was such a joy for us that what made him happy at that point in life was a shared passion of ours, but we could also witness all the hard work this industry requires and the exhaustion it brings. As my father is slowly thinking of retiring it felt natural to me to start capturing this environment through my analog cameras, especially since he is the one that introduced me to photography.
